AI Rig has been rebuilt

2026-08-25 · Improvements

Your character is now rigged at its original mesh resolution and returned exactly as submitted—in a fraction of the time.

What's New

  • A new rigging model — A new AI model generates a skeleton fitted to your character's shape.
  • Full-resolution rigging — Previously, dense models were reduced to a lower-poly version before rigging, and the result was then transferred back to the original mesh. That step is now gone. Your geometry, UVs, and materials are returned unchanged.
  • Much less waiting — Rigging that used to take around 22 seconds now takes about 3.

Why It Matters

Reducing a model's polygon count can remove fine details first—fingers, straps, and armor edges—the details that are most noticeable when a character moves.

Previously, rigging was performed on a lower-poly version of the model, and the result then had to be transferred back to the original mesh.

Now the rig is fitted to the mesh you actually created. At roughly three seconds per character, you can rerun rigging after a tweak instead of planning around it.

Good to Know

  • No new setting is required. Auto, Humanoid, and Non-humanoid work as before, and all three benefit from these improvements.
  • Humanoid is an explicit choice, not a hint. Selecting it skips detection entirely and applies a humanoid skeleton even if the character does not have a human-like structure. If you are unsure, use Auto.
  • A T-pose still matters. Rigging works best when the character is standing in a T-pose with the limbs clearly separated from the torso. Arms held down, crossed, or tucked into the silhouette make joint placement more difficult, regardless of the mode you choose.
  • Rerun AI Rig on an asset you rigged previously to apply the update. There is no extra cost, and your original asset remains unchanged.
